When refacing can fit
Refacing is most sensible when the kitchen layout is already functional, cabinet boxes are worth keeping and major storage changes are not required.
When replacement may be better
If the goal includes moving cabinets, adding substantial storage, correcting damaged boxes or changing appliance locations, replacement may provide more flexibility.
Coordinate the surrounding finishes
Door style, hardware, counters, backsplash and wall color should be considered together so the refreshed cabinets fit the rest of the room.
Bring the scope together before construction
The more a project touches cabinets, counters, appliances, flooring, lighting, plumbing or layout, the more valuable early coordination becomes. A clear scope gives everyone a better basis for discussing feasibility, sequence and priorities.
